Marion Rampal, chanteuse et songwriter francophone, célèbre l’esprit d’une grande artiste du Jazz !

Chanteuse, actrice, compositrice et activiste, Abbey Lincoln a marqué l’histoire du jazz. Plus qu’une voix, elle a su tracer un chemin spirituel et esthétique d’une richesse grandissante au fil de sa carrière. Surtout, elle est l’autrice d’une œuvre étonnante pourtant peu reprise…

Des merveilles que Marion Rampal, intimement influencée par cette grande dame aux mille vies et aux mille chapeaux, se propose de célébrer aux côtés de ses musiciens. Ils mêleront à certains titres phares ou plus confidentiels des adaptations et des compositions, pièces satellites éclairant les ancrages et les amours musicales d’Abbey. Loin d’un hommage convenu et tendu vers les étoiles, Song For Abbey est un geste de mémoire vive qui souhaite invoquer et partager l’esprit d’une immense artiste, celle qui considérait le jazz comme la forme la plus propice à ce qu’elle appelait "la construction du caractère".

Marion Rampal, French-speaking singer and songwriter, celebrates the spirit of a great Jazz artist!

Singer, actress, composer and activist, Abbey Lincoln left her mark on jazz history. More than a voice, she carved out a spiritual and aesthetic path of growing richness throughout her career. Above all, she is the author of an astonishing body of work that is rarely covered...

Treasures that Marion Rampal, intimately influenced by this great lady of a thousand lives and a thousand hats, proposes to celebrate alongside her musicians. They will blend some flagship or more intimate titles with adaptations and compositions, satellite pieces illuminating Abbey's musical roots and loves. Far from a conventional tribute reaching for the stars, Song For Abbey is a gesture of living memory that seeks to invoke and share the spirit of an immense artist, one who considered jazz as the most conducive form to what she called "character building."
