En 2025, l’association Photo Phnom Penh s’est rendue dans des villages ruraux du Cambodge afin de collecter de vieilles photographies de famille endommagées. L’équipe les a restaurées numériquement, en a réalisé de nouvelles impressions et crée des montages, qui ont ensuite été remis aux familles. Ce projet sera présenté en ouverture de cette soirée de projection.

Nous renouons ensuite avec les nominés et l’annonce du vainqueur du Leica Oskar Barnack Award (LOBA). Cette prestigieuse distinction internationale, décernée par la firme allemande Leica depuis 1979 en hommage à son ingénieur Oskar Barnack, récompense chaque année le travail d’un photographe professionnel. Les nominés du prix 2025 sont : Lynsey Addario (États-Unis), Arlette Bashizi (République Démocratique du Congo), Alejandro Cegarra (Venezuela), Serghei Duve (Allemagne), Gideon Mendel (Afrique du Sud), Stanislav Ostrous (Ukraine), Xiangjie Peng (Chine), Ivor Prickett (Irlande), Frederik Rüegger (Allemagne), Anastasia Taylor-Lind (Angleterre), Jodi Windvogel (Afrique du Sud) et Zhan Youbing (Chine). Leurs travaux portent sur des enjeux sociaux et géopolitiques, aussi bien dans leurs pays respectifs qu’à l’échelle mondiale. Qu’ils travaillent en noir et blanc ou en couleurs, ces photographes présentent des projets documentaires de longue durée qui, à travers des approches stylistiques variées, offrent un regard personnel sur le monde contemporain.

Nous clôturerons la soirée avec la performance Floating Between de l’artiste Vannak Khun. Cette performance a été conçue dans le cadre du projet Metis : À la découverte des liens entre l’homme et l’océan.
Les photographies réalisées dans le cadre de ce projet seront exposées dans la galerie de l’Institut français du Cambodge jusqu’au 12 janvier 2026.

In 2025, the association Photo Phnom Penh visited rural villages in Cambodia to collect old, damaged family photographs. The team digitally restored them, produced new prints, and created montages, which were then returned to the families. This project will be presented at the beginning of this screening evening.

We then return to the nominees and the announcement of the winner of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award (LOBA). This prestigious international distinction, awarded by the German company Leica since 1979 in honor of its engineer Oskar Barnack, recognizes the work of a professional photographer each year. The nominees for the 2025 prize are: Lynsey Addario (United States), Arlette Bashizi (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Alejandro Cegarra (Venezuela), Serghei Duve (Germany), Gideon Mendel (South Africa), Stanislav Ostrous (Ukraine), Xiangjie Peng (China), Ivor Prickett (Ireland), Frederik Rüegger (Germany), Anastasia Taylor-Lind (England), Jodi Windvogel (South Africa), and Zhan Youbing (China). Their work addresses social and geopolitical issues, both in their own countries and worldwide. Whether working in black and white or color, these photographers present long-term documentary projects that, through varied stylistic approaches, offer a personal perspective on the contemporary world.

The evening will conclude with the performance Floating Between by the artist Vannak Khun. This performance was created as part of the project METIS: Discovering the Links Between Humans and the Ocean. The photographs produced as part of this project will be exhibited in the gallery of the Institut Français du Cambodge until January 12, 2026.
