Celebrating Chakto ! Cinema, sounds, dance and graphic novels take over Institut français

Join us on Friday, October 3rd from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. to discover Cambodia's new talents! Short films, comics, concerts, audio stories and dance performances await you throughout the Institute!
For over a year, more than sixty participants benefited from mentoring by leading figures in the French art scene as part of the Chakto Program. Supported in their projects and creativity, they are now ready to show you the fruits of their labor! Join us at the Institute starting at 5 p.m. for a colorful program, a true festival of Cambodian artistic creation!

Discover
the 6 comic book projects entirely in Khmer through an exhibition retracing their journey! This exhibition will present the different stages
of creating a comic book, from inking to storyboard and character design. The budding authors-illustrators will be present to discuss it
with you! Of the 6 comic books created, (A Sbov, Ginger, The Spirit House, A Battambang Childhood, Pagoda
Resident
and A Techie Family), A Techie Family by KEO Piseth is already printed by Avatar Publishing and available for purchase
during this evening.

Have
you ever listened to Khmer tales? The artists in this project were inspired by traditional Cambodian tales to write their own stories, which
they then recorded with music, sound, and sound effects—real audiobooks! These tales, told in Khmer, are available to listen to with French
and English subtitles on the Media Library's iPads.

Five
short film projects have been selected for the CHAKTO project: the young directors are ready to present them to you today! These highly
personal projects, focusing on themes close to their hearts, will be shown excerpts and discussed with you their artistic approach. The
young film composers in the program will also be present to discuss their collaboration with the directors.

A brand new collaboration between hip-hop and breaking dancer BBoy-Suicide and contemporary dance artist Belle Sodhachivy Chumvan awaits!
Blending two artistic genres and two distinct backgrounds, this collaboration will present a reflection on the value of time passing, and
what we cherish.

Ash
and Panha will present the songs they worked on during the workshop led by Anne Paceo! Combining traditional Cambodian instruments with new
music, this blend of traditions and musical transformations will surprise you. A unique concert in styles, personalities and sounds!
Followed by a concert by ZELIE, on tour in Southeast Asia!
Self-taught author, performer and composer, Zélie left
dance after 7 years of conservatory to devote herself entirely to music. At just 20 years old, she released her first pieces and revealed a
strong writing style and a moving universe where dance pop and touching piano voices blend and where she evokes her stories of love,
friendships and desire. Winner of the FAIR 2024, Zélie has established herself as one of the most captivating musical revelations of her
generation. Her first album Un million de petits chocs mixes airy pop, rock, rap and disco touches, in a sensitive and powerful work.

What is CHAKTO?
It aims to strengthen the skills of young Cambodian talents in four key areas: graphic novels, cinema, music and dance. Funded by the Fonds Équipe France Création of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, it is supported by the French Embassy in Cambodia and the French Institute in Cambodia, in partnership with major players in the Cambodian cultural sector: Sipar and Avatar Publishing, the film production company Anti-Archive, Kongchak Studio and the Cambodian Living Arts NGO. "Chakto" is part of a long-term approach to strengthen cultural and creative ties between Cambodia and France, while highlighting the wealth and diversity of Cambodian talents.
