The irresistible rise of Cambodian cinema, which began in 1960, was stopped short in 1975 by the Khmer Rouges' arrival in power. Most of the films have disappeared, the actors were killed and the theaters were transformed into restaurants or karaoke bars. Golden Slumbers listens to the stories of a few survivors and tries to revive the spirit of this forgotten cinema.
