Sam Ali, jeune Syrien sensible et impulsif, fuit son pays pour le Liban afin d’échapper à la guerre. Pour se rendre en Europe et vivre avec l’amour de sa vie, il accepte de se faire tatouer le dos par l’artiste contemporain le plus sulfureux au monde. En transformant son corps en une prestigieuse œuvre d’art, Sam finira toutefois par découvrir que sa décision s’est faite au prix de sa liberté.
