Une nuit, Pazu, un jeune mineur, aide Sheeta, une fillette qui descend lentement du ciel, enveloppée d'une lumière bleue. À
l'aube, Pazu la protège de Dola et de sa bande de pirates de l'air, ainsi que d'une agence gouvernementale spéciale lancée à
leur poursuite, et ils tentent de s'échapper. Conformément aux dernières volontés de son père aventurier, Pazu a juré de trouver
Laputa, un château flottant dans le ciel. De plus, Sheeta est une descendante de la famille royale laputienne et porte un pendentif orné
d'un « Cristal de Lévitation » qui indique l'emplacement du château. Tous deux embarquent à bord du dirigeable
« Motte Tigre » de la bande de Dola et se lancent dans une quête pour trouver Laputa.

One night, young mine worker Pazu helps Sheeta, a girl who descends slowly from the sky, enveloped in blue light. At dawn, Pazu protects Sheeta from Dola and her gang of air pirates, as well as a special government agency that is also pursuing her, and they attempt to escape. In accordance with the dying wish of his adventurer father, Pazu has vowed to find Laputa, a castle floating in the sky. What’s more, Sheeta is a descendant of the Laputian royal family, and she carries a pendant with a “Levitation Crystal” that points to the whereabouts of the castle. The two of them board the Dola gang’s Tiger Moth airship, and embark on a quest to find Laputa.
